CV with .750″ Balls and use the stock 8 mm cv bolts. They fit stock German or aftermarket axle shafts that have the OEM VW 33 spline count. They bolt right up to a stock Vanagon or Type 2 stub axle and the trans drive flanges found on stock 002, 091 and 094 transmissions, as well as the stock drive flanges found on Syncro front differentials. It comes with a Chromoly cage and inner race which is significantly stronger than conventional CV cages, providing a great deal more support to the large CV balls under load, significantly improving the overall strength of the CV as a unit. The I.D. of the 6 mounting holes is 8.8mm. The fit between balls and tracks is very loose to allow for maximum operating angles to improve articulation of lifted Vanagons but they are just as applicable for stock ride height / CV angles for any Vanagon, Syncro or Type 2 bus.What makes these CV’s better than a stock Vanagon CV or a Porsche 944 CV, you may be thinking?Vanagon CV’s have 20mm balls which allow for good strength, but the fit between the balls and tracks are tighter than the 100mm HD CV Joint, increasing heat and narrowing the range of articulation angle, which is not sufficient to accommodate 1”- 1.5” lift springs. So OEM joints fail more quickly than they should. While Porsche 944 CV’s feature 17mm balls and facilitate a wider range of articular angle motion, the problem is they have a more significantly hardened, brittle CV cage which is best for a light weight, small sports cars. So the 944 version wears out quickly when installed on a 4,000 – 5,000lb Vanagon or Syncro. All that said, we found the best of both worlds with 19mm balls, high-strength Chromoly cages and heat-treated outer housings. This definitely checks all the boxes: Strength, long life, handles the angles of 1.5” lifted vans, fits the stock 33 spline shaft, bolts up to stock associated components and the price is a VW owners’ dream because it comes at a greatly reduced price tag!Fits: 1980 – 1991 2WD / 4WDWe offer these products at the best prices in the Vanagon market!
