The mounting flanges fit inside of the tank and have four studs on each flange half. The studs stick through the holes in the tank allowing you to bolt your sending unit in place. They are designed as two pieces so that you would be able to remove them from the tank if necessary. Usually only reason to replace them is if the studs of the original flange get rusty and snap off when replacing or resealing the sending unit. 251201145B
